100 Calorie Strawberry Watermelon Margarita Recipe

Love Margaritas? Hate the calories? Need to justify more Margaritas? No problem!

Here is your 100 Calorie  Strawberry Watermelon Margarita Recipe

One of the issues with Margarita's is the mix, not the tequila. A full 12oz Margarita with a sugar sweet mix can easily turn that drink into a 500+ calorie beverage. If you have 2 or 3, you are likely over your calorie intake for the day, not that you are counting it at that point.

But the tequila is another story at only 70-80 calories per 1oz shot. Plus it has no carbs! BONUS!

So what is the solution to having a few good Margaritas and saving on the calories and carbs? Simple, get a no/low calorie mix like Crystal Light. My wife and I love the Strawberry Watermelon flavor, which for a full gallon pitcher is only 80 calories. It mixes well with a good silver tequila like 1800, Cazadores, or Patrón.

What the bottom line math on this mix of calories and margaritas?
A Margarita with 12oz of Crystal Lite Strawberry Watermelon mix plus 1oz of tequila is just under 100 calories and has no carbs. That's it!

Simple Recipe for the 100 Calorie Strawberry Watermelon Margarita

  • 12oz of Strawberry Watermelon mix

Hi! I tried this with Plantation 3-Star rum instead of tequila (I didn’t have any white tequila and anejo seemed to have too strong of a flavor). With the 3-Star, it’s very good…perhaps I used between 1.5 to 2 oz of rum to 8 oz of the Crystal Light. It was an excellent drink for hot days. Costco sells a generic French vodka that tastes amazingly like Grey Goose…it would be good with this. Now, of course, I want to find fresh watermelon juice. Adding an ounce of it to this would really improve the drink…I think. Ah, the sacrifices I go through for science. ;-)
